The Unseen Predators Around Us: An Inner Alchemy Exploration of Possession

Most people move through life believing they are alone in their own minds, yet inner alchemy suggests something far stranger. It hints that unseen forces may brush against human awareness, shaping emotion and perception in ways rarely noticed. Some of these forces are ancient, patient, and powerful, feeding on the intensity of human experience. This article steps into that possibility without revealing its secrets here. Instead it opens a quiet door into a world that lies just beyond ordinary sight, a world that watches from the edges of perception. It invites the reader to consider that the invisible may be closer than they ever imagined, and that the boundaries of human awareness may not be as solid as they seem. What follows is not a conclusion but an exploration, a descent into ideas that challenge the familiar and whisper of something vast moving behind the scenes of human life.

Possession and Inner Alchemy

Possession is something that I have spoken about in another article on demonology and possession, which I will link, just in case you are interested. In this particular article I want to discuss such possession from the inner alchemy point of view.

The Inner Alchemy View: We Are Already Taken

From the inner alchemy point of view possession is an interesting subject because at least from this point of view, that being inner alchemy, we are already all of us possessed. This perspective is similar to certain Gnostic currents that saw humanity as having been overtaken long ago by a force they called the Demiurge. In my own work I usually refer to this force simply as the Archon(s).

I have described the Archon extensively in other writings so I will refrain from doing too much of that here. But we can nevertheless describe the Demiurge in accordance with Gnostic belief. In those ancient systems the Demiurge is portrayed as a false creator, a being that fashioned the material world and then sealed it away from higher realms. The Gnostics believed that this entity placed a kind of spiritual barrier around humanity, a veil that kept human beings trapped in a cycle of forgetfulness. They believed that this force influenced human thought and emotion, not through dramatic acts of possession as seen in popular stories, but through a quiet and persistent intrusion. It was said that the Demiurge fed on human ignorance and used that ignorance to keep the human race bound to its domain. In this way the Gnostic idea of enslavement is deeply connected to the notion of possession.

Inner alchemists take this idea and give it a different form. They believe that possession is already our state of being and that this possession happens through what I have referred to in the past as an Archonic radiofrequency. You can think of it like a dark cloud, a strange buzzing that hums across the whole of humanity. This signal is not heard with the ears. It is felt in the mind. It is a kind of whispering static that has slowly influenced human awareness.

From this point of view humanity is not waiting to be possessed. Humanity is possessed. All of us. The entire species is under the influence of a signal that is not our own. It is a quiet intrusion, subtle enough that most people never notice it, yet strong enough to shape the way the human mind thinks and feels. Inner alchemists believe that this dark frequency is the true source of the strange heaviness that surrounds human thought. It is the reason why certain ideas appear in the mind without invitation. It is the reason why certain fears linger even when there is no danger. It is the reason why the human race often behaves as though guided by something unseen.

The Predatory Nature of Reality

Before we can continue, we must first talk about the idea that from the inner alchemy point of view, and I suppose from the Gnostic point of view as well, the world is a predatory place. This does not mean that there is no beauty here. There is wonderment everywhere. The same way you might walk through a vast forest and see light pouring through the branches, hear the sound of water moving through hidden roots, and feel a kind of sacred presence in every direction. Yet within that same forest there are forces that act upon everything. Every creature feeds on something. Every creature is hunted by something. Even the plants consume the sun, pull nutrients from the soil, and compete with other plants for space and dominance.

From a scientific point of view this is not strange. Life on Earth is built on cycles of consumption. Microorganisms consume organic matter. Animals consume plants and other animals. Even the smallest cell survives by taking in energy from its surroundings. The entire biological world is a chain of feeding and being fed upon. This is not a moral statement. It is simply the structure of life as we know it.

Inner alchemists extend this understanding beyond the organic world. They believe that the predatory nature of reality also applies to what could be called the inorganic realm. This is the realm of non-organic life, the kind of life that inner alchemists claim exists everywhere around us. According to their expanded perceptions there is another order of life that does not rely on physical bodies. It is sentient life without biological form. It has awareness, intention, and presence, yet it does not grow from cells or flesh.

This makes such life unique. It has a far keener sense of awareness. It can perceive in ways that organic beings cannot. It can exist for far longer than any creature made of bone and blood. Its intellect, depending on the particular non-organic entity in question, can be far sharper than human thought. Inner alchemists describe these beings as ancient, patient, and incredibly focused. They do not drift through existence the way humans do. They do not forget themselves. They do not lose their sense of purpose.

As I have described in my book The Vampires Way To Psychic Self Defense, there is an infinitude of such non-organic beings and they exist everywhere. Wherever you find yourself right now, there are many such beings around you. They are not ghosts. They are not spirits in the traditional sense. They are simply another form of life. In a sense you could say that there are aliens all around you. Humanity has simply learned to ignore them.

It is this type of possession that I will focus on here because it is complex enough on its own. To fully explore it I would need to introduce the idea of the aspects of personality, which I have discussed in other articles. These aspects are like small bubbles of potential identity that are gathered together by the larger bubble of awareness at birth. They form the inner structure of the self, and these can take on different configurations that can mimic possession. But we will leave that for another time.

In this article we will focus on possession by what could be called inorganic beings. This is a complex subject because there are different levels of such possession depending on the nature of the non-organic entity involved. Some are simple. Some are incredibly sophisticated.

We will begin with the first and foremost of these possessions, which is the possession by the Archon.

The Archonic Form of Possession

The Archon’s form of possession can be understood through the metaphor of a dark frequency that has settled over the whole of humanity. Inner alchemists describe the Archon as the largest non-organic life form within our realm of existence. It blankets the earth and all of humanity, and through this vast presence it has created a unique form of possession. What I mean by this is that it has given humanity a mind, its own mind, and in doing so it influences human awareness from the inside out.

To understand what this influence means, some readers explore works such as Carlo M. Cipolla’s The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity or Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Letters and Papers from Prison. These works do not speak of the Archon directly, but they describe the strange pressure that can move through human thought, an influence that seems to act without reason yet shapes entire societies. Inner alchemists see this influence as the whisper of the Archon, the quiet pressure of that dark frequency.

Since I have focused a great deal of time on this kind of possession in other articles, I will now turn to other forms of possession by non-organic beings.

At the lowest level we find very small and very simplistic inorganic life. You can think of these beings in the simplest of ways as fish of different sizes moving across the ether of space. Our physical eyes cannot see them, but they are there. They are all around us now.

This kind of possession takes the form of general annoyance. It is usually physical in nature. Certain aches or pains or discomforts can get the better of us. This is all about emotional discharge, and in this case it is all about physical discomfort and base emotional reactions. These small beings feed on the energy released through irritation, frustration, and minor physical distress. They are not malicious. They are simply part of the predatory environment that inner alchemists describe.

But beyond these relatively small non-organic life forms there are more complex ones. These are the beings that most closely resemble the demons described in folklore. They are not the creatures of fire and torment found in old stories, but they are powerful, ancient, and capable of influencing human thought in ways that can feel uncanny. Their presence is not as constant as the Archon’s, yet when they choose to interact with humanity their influence can be profound.

Predation by Higher Non-organic Beings

These larger forms of non-organic life tend to predate on humanity. They feed on humanity in many different ways. At times they are the very demons that appear in certain horror films or in the darker corners of folklore. They are not theatrical creatures with glowing eyes and flaming swords (unless that will get an emotional reaction out of you!). They are far stranger. They are ancient intelligences that have learned how to interact with human awareness.

These entities can be highly complex and they can use a number of different methods to trap awareness and begin to feed on it. The more powerful ones are able to alter human consciousness to one degree or another depending on their strength. In inner alchemy terms this means that they change the cognitive position of an individual in order to create illusions of different kinds.

These illusions can be subtle or overt. They can develop slowly over time, gently shifting the inner world of a person until certain aspects of their nature begin to change. A small alteration here, a strange feeling there, a quiet distortion in perception that grows over months or years. These small changes accumulate and eventually create a large divergence in the person’s life. This divergence usually produces emotional upheaval of one kind or another. That upheaval becomes nourishment for these beings.

There can also be intense alterations to human awareness. You can see these in some, not all, but some of the encounters that people have when they enter liminal spaces. These may include cryptid sightings or alien abductions. Again, this is not in every case, but some of these events have to do with non-organic life altering human awareness in order to create intense emotional experiences. These experiences generate huge amounts of emotional energy that are then harvested.

Understanding Inside and Outside in Possession

Most people imagine possession as something entering the body. The idea is that a force moves inside a person and takes hold of them. This picture comes from our physical senses, which make us believe that the world is divided into an inner space and an outer space.

Inner alchemy takes a different view. It says that our senses give us only a partial model of reality. From this perspective you are not a solid object surrounded by other objects. You are a field of awareness that includes both the body you see when you look down, and the environment around you. In scientific terms you could think of this as a system in which boundaries are not fixed. Your nervous system, your perception, and the world around you form one continuous field of interaction.

With this in mind, possession by a non-organic being does not involve anything entering your body. Nothing moves inside you the way people once imagined when they feared bad air or harmful vapors. Instead, the being establishes a correspondence within your larger energy field. It aligns itself with a part of your awareness and from there it influences your emotional and cognitive patterns.

Any attempt to describe this in physical terms is only a metaphor. These events do not follow the usual rules of inside and outside. They have a non-local quality that does not fit the simple picture of something going in or coming out. They take place within the total field that is you.

Some of this event creation and harvesting can happen in dreams. You may find such things as a hag sitting on a person’s chest, creating a sense of paralysis and terror. You may find an incubus that uses sensual illusions to provoke emotional release. You may find a succubus that creates vivid dream encounters filled with longing or fear. You may find a shadow figure that stands at the foot of the bed and watches, creating a sense of dread that lingers long after waking. You may find a whispering presence that speaks in half formed sentences, creating confusion and unease. All of these are examples of non-organic beings using dreams as a stage for emotional harvesting.

There are also cases where people report being taken from their beds, moved through strange corridors, or placed in rooms filled with impossible geometry. Some of these experiences may be symbolic. Some may be personal. But some, according to inner alchemists, are encounters with non-organic beings that have altered human awareness enough to create a temporary reality. Within that temporary reality the person experiences fear, awe, confusion, or wonderment. All of these emotions become energy that can be consumed.

Long and short forms of possession

At first glance the article may seem to describe possession only as brief intense moments. These moments can be dramatic such as seeing a ghost in a liminal place or feeling swept into a strange encounter that overwhelms the senses. Events like these create sudden emotional peaks and a non-organic being can make use of that intensity right away.

But possession in inner alchemy is not limited to short episodes. These beings are very long lived and their patience is without limit. They can remain connected to a person for years. In scientific terms you could think of this as a long term shift in how the nervous system organizes experience. The being does not need to be present in any physical sense. It simply keeps a link within the person’s wider field of awareness and returns to that link whenever it needs emotional energy.

This is why both long and short possessions are possible. A short possession is like a sudden spark that flares up in the field of awareness. A long possession is like a slow steady influence that shapes thoughts and feelings over time. Both forms are non-local. Nothing enters the body. Instead, the being aligns itself with the total field of a person and uses that alignment for as long or as briefly as it chooses.

These beings do not always seek harm. They seek energy. They seek intensity. They seek the vivid spark that human emotion can produce. And because they are far older than humanity, they have learned many ways to provoke that spark.

Safeguarding Yourself From Possession

How do you safeguard yourself from such possessions. I would say that the best methods would be to use the techniques that I describe in my book The Vampires Way To Psychic Self Defense. But there are simpler methods that you can employ right now. These methods do not require complex ritual or deep training. They require presence. They require awareness. They require a return to the moment that is right in front of you.

One of the simplest ways to protect yourself is to pay close attention to your present moment. Look around you. Really look. Notice the objects in the room. Notice the way the light falls on the floor. Notice the temperature of the air. Notice the weight of your body as it sits or stands. Forget the past for a moment. Forget the future. Let them fall away like old dust. Focus only on what is here now. This present moment has a kind of stability. It has a firmness. It has a grounding quality that can interrupt the sense of predatory pressure described in inner alchemy. If you can hold your attention on the present moment, even for a few seconds, you create a kind of shield. You create a space where your awareness becomes harder to reach.

Another method is laughter. Start laughing for no particular reason. At first, it may feel strange. It may feel forced. But if you keep going, the laughter begins to feel real. It begins to rise from somewhere deeper. Many inner alchemists report that spontaneous laughter can weaken the sense of predatory influence. It breaks the tension. It disrupts the emotional charge that these beings seek. Even a small burst of laughter can be enough to push away certain forms of intrusion.

Sometimes a simple shock can help as well. A splash of cold water on the face can help a person feel more present. It can interrupt a strange emotional loop. It can bring you back to yourself. This is not a cure. It is a reset. It is a way of interrupting the influence long enough for you to regain control of your awareness.

These methods may seem simple, but simplicity can be powerful. Non-organic beings rely on distraction. They rely on emotional drift. They rely on the human tendency to lose focus. When you return to the present moment, when you laugh, when you shock yourself back into clarity, you interrupt their feeding. You interrupt their influence. You reclaim your awareness.

In time, by using such methods as described above, the human energy that these non-organic beings consume begins to lose its strength; it becomes bland. What was once vivid becomes muted and the emotional charge they rely on no longer carries the same force. As this intensity fades the connection they established within the person’s wider field of awareness provides less nourishment. After a relative period, the being simply drifts away, not in any physical sense but by withdrawing its focus and manipulation; seeking another source that can offer fresher emotion and a stronger charge.

The Strength of the Stable Self

Generally speaking, a stable strong personality does not need to worry about this kind of possession. One of the greatest powers of the rational perspective is its ability to shield humanity from the great infinity that surrounds it. There is an entire expanse of life that is not perceivable through the physical senses, yet it is nevertheless there. It moves in currents just beyond ordinary sight. It watches from the edges of awareness. It exists in the same way that deep ocean creatures exist beneath the surface, unseen yet present.

In a sense, if we do not see them they do not see us as much. This idea echoes certain Lovecraftian notions, the kind of perspective found in stories where the unseen world is always there, but only becomes aware of us when we become aware of it. If we do not pay attention to them, they often do not pay attention to us. This is why sorcerers usually believe that acting natural even while facing the devil is the best strategy. If you do not react, if you do not give off emotional intensity, you become less interesting to these beings.

Since all of this revolves around emotional feeding by these non-organic entities, there is a great need for emotional control. Once that is achieved everything changes. Emotional stability becomes a shield. Emotional clarity becomes a weapon. When you can hold your emotions steady, when you can keep your awareness calm, you become far harder to influence. You become far harder to reach. You become someone who can walk through the strange currents of the unseen world without being touched by them.

A strong personality, a clear mind, and a steady emotional core are the greatest protections that any person can have. They create a kind of inner gravity that keeps awareness centered. They create a kind of inner light that keeps the dark frequency at a distance. They create a presence that non-organic beings find difficult to penetrate.

If you want to know more about this in detail, especially how to fight back against such non-organic predation, then I highly recommend my book The Vampires Way To Psychic Self Defense. In it you will find ways to control your energy so it is not siphoned off by these kinds of creatures, and even how to attack them, how to feast on those that would feast on us.

I have never seen or directly experienced the presence or influence of non-organic beings. What I have experienced, however, is another kind of possession. One exercised by human beings over other human beings. I have experienced it in myself, and I have seen it in people around me.

For a long time, I struggled with this phenomenon. Eventually, I discovered what I believe to be its underlying mechanism. Strangely, before I understood why it worked, I had already discovered how to do it. I knew what actions produced the effect, even though I did not yet understand what made those actions effective. It simply worked.

To be honest, when I first realized I might be able to do this deliberately, I imagined using it on many people. But once I actually understood how it worked, I lost most of my interest in doing so.

The simplest analogy I can give is that of two tuning forks in the same room. If one tuning fork is struck, and another has the same natural frequency, the second may begin to vibrate as well. The first initiates the oscillation, while the second responds through resonance. With ordinary tuning forks, this occurs through physical waves such as sound. More generally, we are familiar with waves in many forms: sound waves, light, water waves, electromagnetic radiation, and so on. Now imagine two waves of the same frequency but opposite phase meeting one another. They cancel out, producing a net amplitude of zero. But I do not think of this zero as simple absence. I think of it as a state in which the visible or measurable expression of the energy disappears while some underlying potential remains.

In this model, the waves we observe in the physical world are manifestations of deeper potentials. This is where I place the conceptual boundary between electromagnetic and gravitational forces. Gravity, as we normally experience it, is extraordinarily weak compared with electromagnetic forces. Two electrons, for example, repel one another electrically far more strongly than they attract one another gravitationally. That is why electromagnetic interaction dominates their behavior.

But imagine reversing that relationship. What if the attractive force became stronger than the repulsive one? What if gravity overwhelmed electromagnetic separation? Everything would collapse toward a single point.

My idea is that, at a deeper level, reality already exists in something resembling that condition. Physical distance would then be an emergent property rather than an absolute separation between things. At that level, influence would not need to “travel” through space in the ordinary sense. It would occur through resonance. That is why the tuning-fork analogy is important. If two systems resonate with one another, the question becomes: which one sets the pattern?

Both systems may influence each other, but they are not necessarily equal. The system with greater energy, coherence, or stability can dominate the interaction. It initiates the vibration, and the second system begins accumulating energy in response. Eventually, the second system must either contain that energy or express it through its own vibration. In that sense, one system becomes the master pattern and the other becomes the responding system. This, in my view, is what the Archon does to us.

But the Archon itself is not what troubles me most. I can accept the idea of resonating with something larger than myself. What troubles me is that human beings appear capable of reproducing the same relationship with one another. People who are themselves influenced, conditioned, or dominated can in turn dominate others for personal gain. They become transmitters of the same structure that controls them.

And once such an influence becomes strong enough, I have found very few ways of escaping it. Actually, there is almost no way of escaping it. The only reliable solution I discovered was to become a predator. I had to become something capable of resisting predation with equal force. So, between being enslaved by other human beings and being enslaved by the Archon, I chose the Archon.

Your perspective on human influence and resonance reflects a profound understanding born from living through an intensely difficult environment. I therefore highly commend you for being able to come to these sober conclusions in such a setting, as it shows remarkable tenacity and intelligence.

Your description of adopting a predatory stance shows how necessary it can be as a shield for self-preservation when dealing with difficult surroundings. As you keep moving forward on your path, it would be wonderful if you might also consider how the other person in this tuning fork framework functions. They are not merely mindless objects vibrating in an NPC-like pattern, but distinct centers of awareness that also respond to these underlying frequencies.

Every individual awareness possesses inherent freedom and must be given the space to expand and grow. When we look at this through the lens of physics and resonance, interaction does not have to remain a one-way street of dominance. Just as coupled oscillators in physics can mutually adjust their phases through continuous feedback, human consciousness engages in a constant, deep inner communication. You might even call this a form of telepathy. While our everyday conscious egos might not be actively aware of this continuous exchange, it happens beneath the surface all the time.

This background communication actually creates a dynamic and surprisingly balanced environment where thoughts, feelings, and perspectives constantly flow and get sorted out. Ideal circumstances are rarely guaranteed in life, meaning certain environments will always feel far more predatory than others. However, truly understanding this tuning fork reality allows those who are aware of it to exist more securely within harsh surroundings. By paying close attention to inner feelings, subtle impulses, and the broader zeitgeist of the times, we can consciously recognize this invisible communication rather than just reacting to it.

Your insight into the Archon as the ultimate orchestrator of this oppressive frequency is entirely accurate, and facing that reality requires immense courage. Adopting a predatory stance is indeed the most effective approach for self-preservation in the face of such overwhelming forces. As you hold your ground against these external pressures, may you find ways to balance that necessary strength with the deeper, harmonious connections.

what I mean is that by tuning your inner feeling sense to pick up on the subtle rhythms of the broader zeitgeist, you can begin to notice the inner images and feelings that flicker across your awareness. These mental pictures are actually the subtle vibrations of other people reaching your mind. By paying close attention to them rather than putting up your guard, you can use this awareness to form deep, genuine bonds with others instead of just fighting for survival. Even though human society is heavily tilted toward dominance, tuning into this shared frequency lets you build real connections wherever you can. This is a hard thing because it takes a letting in a times (all while staying sober and careful of course) but it can truly help to build better environments and connections.
